Choosing the Right Cello Music School
To some people’s mind, the cello is just a violin made bigger, and its not even that popular. But these two have more distinct characteristics. In the Suzuki method, the students will be given musical pieces to learn by ear for a certain period of time. After this, they would be asked to play it as they heard it. Listening and participating are given more importance in this method, rather than learning to read notes.
When you have made the decision about what method suits you, then it is time to think about what set up you want for your cello class. There are three options for you: a group class, a solo session, or online classes.
A group class is a good way for you to meet and interact with other cellists-to-be. Exchange of ideas is also more prolific in this method and you will definitely make new friends! This is difficult for some people though, especially those who are timid or have low concentration.
If you don’t feel like you will prosper in a group, then you can learn solo by finding a private teacher. This way, your teacher can give you more attention, and at the same time you won’t feel intimidated by other students. Having a personal teacher can also give you time flexibility, where you just have to set a schedule that is most convenient for both of you. You can also opt to go to the teacher’s studio or have him/her come to your house.
The last option for you to consider is online courses. There are some websites that provide materials like musical pieces, instructions, or even videos for cello students. This kind of set-up is convenient for some people, but it can also be difficult, especially if you are a beginner and want to ask specific questions to an instructor.
Factors like the location and reputation should also be considered in choosing a cello school. You will be more informed about which of them presents the best option for you if you do extensive research.
