Sweep-Picking.org

Alright so I’ve been playing 2 years now on electric guitar, so I would like to learn sweeping. I have some questions thought before I begin my challenge.

Does your amp have an effect on being able to sweep? I have a pretty crappy practice amp that I’ve used since I started playing, I think its 10 watts, but its an off brand and has little effects on it. I have been wanting to buy a much bigger and better amp but my parents think its a waste of money.

How exactly are you supposed to mute the strings? How do I mute the strings when I left my finger off? I can’t seem to do it right. Notes or strings always ring out when I take my finger off.

How long does it usually take to actually get it down? I don’t want to be at this for months then realize I can’t do it if you know what I mean.

I think that’s all the questions I have….any other tips or advice on this would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
