@TheNeonRabbit That’s why he needed that big red hat, to keep his ego in.

@guitar19904 well, anyone with a “world music” interest would have heard of him. He’s great – sure, Paco de Lucia is similarily brilliant! I was just referring to the generally accepted rock guitar gods and giving major unsung Kudos to Prince. Re: the race thing – relax, the comparisons were done tongue in cheek like you would joke with friends, there’s enough racial BS on youtube as is, i wouldn’t add to it… But on the other hand, surely no one can deny African music’s impact on our planet

I’m not impressed, but that is what you get when you are warned: greatest guitar solo ever.

@TheNeonRabbit The music sometimes takes over and takes control. (don’t blame him)

It might not be the greatest technically speaking but I love Prince and he sold that solo, you could tell he was feeling what he was playing and playing what he feels. He is one of the reasons why I love playing Telecasters!

@msapswanson No Respect you reckon. He thrashed that guitar like it stole something. He is playing his heart out on a George Harrison song and check out that kids face at 3:27 and tell me there is no respect.

@SuperMooseBox Nah, I don”t think so. they just took the time to really watch and listen, without getting overemotional like some little girl, and give a realistic point of view of what is a very basic solo with more flash than substance. And for that they should be criticized? Take another look and listen. Very run of the mill indeed. Prince is smiling because he is amazed that this bullshit he is selling has got everybody all worked up. Quite the salesman on this gig.

If you once heard Steve Lukather doing this song live you wouldn’t want to stress your ears with this again.

And you know Prince could be playing every instrument in this band better than the other guys. With all due respect, of course.

Prince, that was amazing. Music should spend more time respecting you and all the others on that stage, real talented people. Not like most of the BS thats out now and the only dues that they ever paid was standing in line all day for America Idol auditions. Wow.

It’s quite possible that Prince is Hendrix’ own mythological Voodoo Child. Of all the world’s great guitarists to play that solo, they (whoever they may have been — Dhani Harrison, I suspect) picked the best. Absolutely.
