Guitar Sweep Picking Arpeggios

Does anyone know how to properly sweep pick arpeggios on the electric guitar?
I have a general idea of how to “pick” but I dont know how to “fret” and “roll” my finger to the next string (on the same fret) without the string ringing out making my sweeps sound horrible.
Make sure you are pressing the string firmly….. because if you dont then it will make and “after” vibration!
