How to Incorporate Palm Muting With Shred Guitar?

I have a problem with playing cleanly on the guitar. I was practicing sweep picking and learning how to play scales quickly (I started slow btw) but the problem is, when i started to speed up just a little bit, my playing suddenly got sloppy. I checked out what was my mistake and it seems to be my lack of palm muting (I was ignorant of this technique). I tried to find instructional videos on how to incorporate palm muting with shredding but it didn’t help out at all. Lets just say that they gave a 15 second explanation and just started to shred like crazy lol. Even the online forums just said practice palm muting it’s easy. The problem is, I don’t know how to use it in shredding. Can anyone help me out? I’ve been playing for only 1 year, and I have a Ibanez GIO and a first act 10 watt amp.

practice basic palm muting by keeping the flesh of your palm on the bridge….just play powerchords or whatever……after you get the hang of it, alternate pick on each string close to the bridge and try to keep the palm of your hand down on the bridge, it just takes alot of practice and time to get used to it…..you can also try using a headband by wrapping it around the strings behind your fingering, which will mute the strings….however, this can become a crutch later
