does size matter? Seems like alot of metal players have long fingers to be able to reach across and up the neck. Any thoughts?

@SemiTall – good question mate. I would say that ultimately it doesnt matter however long fingers can make things easier look at videos of hendrix … :)

@SemiTall i think its all in the thumb over 4 frets ur thum would line up with ur first finger behind the neck and for wider frets thumb will line up with ur 2nd finger so you can pivot between 1st and pinky

I’ve recently gotten into developing my own runs; seeing a scale stretched across the whole neck is so liberating when playing!

@MapleLeafAce Exactly what I found…so easy to get stuck in standard vertical pentatonic shapes – this can be so flexible. Really pleased you found it useful :)

Mat Williams, you sir are a little gem. I soooo related to what you said when you talked about ‘stuck in pentatonics’. After a couple of hours working on the stuff in this vid I feel like a new player :) )) lovin your advice man, thanks very much. :) )))

Little problem. I can move my fingers around stably and fast on the lower strings, but I sometimes have problems doing so on the higher ones. Any advice?

it is just practice because your plucking hand is in a different, lower position. Keep jammin!
