Is It Possible to Pick Very Fast if U Are Left Handed and Play Right Handed Guitar?

I have been playin guitar for about 3 years now and I have been getting Into playing heavy metal. But when it comes to picking I can not get to the speed I want I think it’s cause I play right handed guitar and I’m left handed so I jus wanted to know one if it’s possible to get to a very fast speed and two if there are any good techniques to use thanks

Yes, when you started playing guitar neither of your hands should have been used to picking, so it wouldn’t make a difference, switching to a lefty guitar would probably make you worse because your not used to it. It is hard to go fast and hit the proper string without hitting other strings though. It takes time and practice, just be patient. I’ve been playing music for a while now and I still haven’t mastered everything, I probably never will.

    Can’t be because of that.
    I’m very musically inclined.
And I’ve been also playing for 3 years.
I still can’t get the fast picking down.

    Have you tried up/down picking?
    I forget what it’s called.

But when you play one string for a while.
Try instead of picking down, pick up AND down.

I suppose it’s possible… If you have more than one guitar try stringing it right handed and playing. Better than getting a right handed guitar with the possibility that it doesn’t help any.

I really doubt that would cause any problems. It’s not like picking was a more familiar concept for your left hand when you started, and after three years, you really won’t gain anything from switching now. The best thing you can do for your speed is to practice with a metronome.
