60k Learn Guitar downloads! mhlo.co Arpeggios: Part 1 ——————————————————————— Welcome to the three part arpeggio series in this course. Arpeggios are absolutely key to mastering the art of playing guitar. Arpeggios put chords in a different perspective in order to understand how they are built and how to use them in different ways. Prepare to have Ben expand your musical world. Pattern 1 ——————————————————————— Arpeggios are essentially broken up chords. Instead of strumming chord shapes, you can pluck each note of the chord individually to achieve a different type of sound. This is very common in many pop, rock, and folk songs, and it opens up a world of new rhythmic possibilities. This first pattern will help you build dexterity in your picking hand (refer to the video above and the images below).G major picking pattern: Hold the G chord shape at the base of the neck and pick each note in succession from down to up (marked by the black dots on the left) using all downstrokes.E minor picking pattern: Hold the Em chord shape at the base of the neck and pick each note in succession from down to up (marked by the black dots on the left) using all downstrokes.C major picking pattern: Hold the C chord shape at the base of the neck and pick each note in succession from down to up (marked by the black dots on the left) using all downstrokes.D major picking pattern: Hold the D chord shape
