Need Help Learning to Sweep Pick…?

I am a mid-level guitar player, and have been playing around six years. I have been studying classical for the past three years, and with that came theory, so I am fairly competent on my music theory. I’m fine with my keys, scales, and modes.

Classical music is good, but I listen to metal, and want to learn how to sweep pick. I’m not looking for any short cuts. I just want some advice on how to learn and how to practice. Again, I’m looking to learn how to sweep in a week, I am willing to devote intensive practice sessions to this, just as I do for classical.

Assume I have the necessary gear, which I do, and at least the correct amount of skill and dexterity. How am I going to practice this? (Links are great, as are explanations).

Ten points to whoever gives me the best help, tips, etc.

Thanks!

Hey, I am not exactly sure what you mean by "sweep" pick, since you are referring to metal, i’m guessing it’s very fast up and down picking through various scales. But anyway, what I would suggest is to look up a song that you really want to learn on You Tube and watch how several different people play it. I have been doing this for about a year now and it has helped me learn new songs and learn to improvise.
