hey man; the sweeps are almost perfect

just focus on getting the volume of each note the same because the higher register notes are dying out a little.

    nice job though.

It’s a built-in microphone on a macbook pro. I don’t understand why ANYBODY would expect it to sound good.

my advice is dont pick the hammered note at the end of sweeps for a cleaner sound

That’s horrible advice, because then its really disorienting trying to play those shapes in reverse.

It sounds different, that’s all that matters.

its def not horrible it sounds messy when you pick more then needed legato is better for arpegios anyway

How is it “better”? It’s a different sound and that’s that. Ruling out one technique is like painting a picture and avoiding a certain color. You may need that color at some point, so it’s best to make sure you have it available.

I hope you got better, this is not very good, I use to sweep sloppy like this but didnt hide behind a phaser. Try not hammer on and pull offs on the top and bottem strings, hardest thing to master in sweeping

There’s not actually a phaser or flanger on there, it’s the microphone in the macbook pro. Some idiot designed it to playback the input signal through the speakers (where the mic is located) which results in really hideous phasing ESPECIALLY fast stuff.

@eatsleep69 also the hammers and pull offs are part of the arpeggio

You got to quit the ambient noise reducer in the mic preference at system preferences. keep it up

The ambient noise reducer activates a filter that cuts certain frequency bands, you may notice when you turn it on, certain things sound flat, muddy, and really quiet.

I’ve investigated this issue thoroughly, and as hard as it is to believe that apple would do something so outrageously foolish, they did. ANY input from the microphone gets sent straight to the various outputs (headphones included) at a VERY low level. Faint as it is, it’s enough to screw things up.

turn up your guitar all the way! Also concentrate on hammer ons and pull off at the beginning and end of your arpeggio.

@dontpokesmot422 I agree, practicing legato is important!! when playing arpeggios. Thats really what makes sweep picking, sweep picking, one picked note per string!

@eatsleep69 I totally disagree with your statement about hammer on and pull off at the top and bottom!!!!! Legato is what makes arpeggios sound like they do!

My real problem with sweeping is i have problems using my pinky finger quickly. Ive been able to work around it with everything ive learned so far, until sweeping.
