Who Should the Cavs Try to Drop or Pick Up in Order to Win That Champsionship?

After getting swept by Eva Longoria’s Spurs, well the cameras were mostly on her when we were getting killed, in the championship we need to make some moves to acquire some talent outside of lebron. But with no draft picks, who should we try to go after in free agency and/or who should we try to trade for and for who? I’m from Cleveland and I have an idea of who I really want to go and who I want to see come in but the answer that makes the most sense gets the best answer, not the most popular.

They should just buy out Larry Hughe’s contract since he has failed to produce in the playoffs for the 2nd year in a row. I mean, what is the point of signing Hughes for all that money so he could be the # 2 go-to guy when he plays like a bench player? You might as well use the minutes into developing a young player like Gibson or a new rookie. Now that Billups is signed and Rashard might sign with Orlando, the Cavs should make a push for Mo Williams of Milwaukee or try to trade for a point guard on the trading block like a Jason Kidd or a Mike Bibby. They could also try to make a move for a Marcus Banks (who is under utilized in Phoenix) or a Randy Foye (who doesn’t seem to fit the system in Minnesota). The Cavs need a 2nd ball handler to take the pressure off LeBron and help free up the team’s outside shooters.

they need a post player an inside man that could give them points in the paint and ofcourse a point guard… if they could only get carlos boozer back he will be a force and get any playmaker point guard…

They’ll never win a championship as long as Lebron plays the position he’s playing and they have to go through Detroit and the top west coast teams. So, really they don’t have a chance no matter who they get.

get rid of larry hughes he is always injured and hasn’t played great since playing in washington. Think about it he was supposed to come in and be a 1 2 punch giving illgauskas some needed help as he gets older but now all hughes is doing is choking there money and taking time away from players such as gibson to improve there play. they need to get rid of varejo he just isn’t working in that offense and i have no clue how he was such a high draft pick to begin with but thats what i wonder about milicic. So trade hughes for someone like micheal redd or tj ford or ben gorden yea ben would be amazing in the lineup and get rid of marshall if you are not going to use him for what he is good for and that is shooting 3′s

Lebron needs help and the people he has are not doing it for him the only two are illgauskas and gibson is showing some light but that finals was just pitiful to watch I love lebron love the cavs and hated to see them lose all them games but something has to change and without any draft picks trades are definitely in order.

The Cavs need to teach Lebron how to play in clutch situations and convince him that he is not the next Michael Jordan and he will never be that good. Once he understands that, things will be ok. The Cavs should wait til next summer and pick up Tim Duncan.

They could make a trade. I think they should trade Larry Hughes for multiple talent because Daniel Gibson was impressive and really played with more passion and more energy than Larry in the playoffs. http://games.espn.go.com/nba/features/traderesult?players=356~664~796~61~556&teams=23~23~23~5~5

I think all they need is a another big man to play with Gooden and Ilgauskas to give them more depth, and obivously they need a veteran point guard that has proven himself and can play with Lebron. Might as well get what you need from the Kings because they are a crappy team with over paid players, plus they really need to unload and start over. The Cav’s might have won a game in the Finals if they were able to keep Carlos Boozer during his controversual free agency move to the Jazz.

Well, there isn’t much left in the free agent market this year. I wouldn’t put much stock in any of their players other than Lebron and maybe Boobie. They can compete in the East, but to get the title they will have to throw down some cash in 2008. Varajeo, Hughes, Gooden, and Z could all be great role players, but you have to weigh the costs. If they got Mike Redd last summer who knows, he could have been the key.

the cavs were a bunch of overachievers that rode the coat tails of lebron james. they will never come close to what they did last year because they are not a team. pavlovic and gibson will not put up the same numbers they did last year. With the rise of the New Jersey Nets and New York Knicks as well as the Milwaukee Bucks (as long as Yi and Mo Williams sign) and Orlando Magic, they will not have an easy run through the eastern conference

Apparently, Varejao (whoever you pronounce this dude’s name) – who was admonished by ESPN.com’s Michael Smith to "DON’T TAKE ANOTHER SHOT IN YOUR ENTIRE LIFE" – is gone. Otherwise, this is what they need to do:

    Ditch Larry Hughes.

    Start Boobie Gibson.

    Get some frontcourt help.

Get a second legitimate scorer to help LeBron out.

I would go after Derek Fisher since Utah Jazz agree to let him go. Larry Hughes is pretty good soild player but his injuires is the problem. However, I’ve been sayin’ this since 2 years ago that Cavs r gone CRAZY ‘cuz Boozer were either got trade or released. I don’t get that. He’s a pretty great low post player. Anyhoo, U might think I’m STUPID or CRAZY why can’t they try to trade and attempt to get Pau Gasol? I think it would fit him in Cleveland and it won’t hurt to try it.
